Paralympics NZ Road to Rio Cocktail Event
Friday, 26 June 2015
On Thursday evening, June 25th, Blue Star and guests had the great pleasure of attending Paralympics New Zealand's Road to Rio cocktail event.
This was an exclusive pre-media event introducing Paralympians on the Road to Rio 2016.
Guests of honour were Paralympics' patron His Excellency Let Gen The Rt Hon Sir Jerry Mateparae GNZM, GSO Governor General of New Zealand and Her Excellency Lady Janine Mateparae.
This select event allowed guests to meet New Zealand's top Paralympians and Coaches the night before their first Rio 2016 Paralympic Games media briefing. Guests enjoyed hearing about the team preparation for the Games, and the new strategy being launched to support the future of Para-Sport in New Zealand.
Highlights of the evening included speeches from The Right Honourable Sir Jerry Mateparae, PNZ CEO Fiona Allen, Para-swimmer Mary Fisher, and a heart-warming few words from Blue Star Print Group CEO Greg Howell about the Blue Star partnership with Paralympics NZ.
The event was attended by close to 90 people, including the Governor General's party, Para-Athletes, the PNZ team and guests. Once the formalities were complete, guests were able to mingle and meet His Excellency and the Para-Athletes.
Towards the end of the evening, Fiona Allen presented Their Excellencies with a gift in appreciation of their support. Appropriate to the occasion, the framed "Road to Rio" print, printed by Blue Star, and signed by Fiona Allen and the Para-Athletes, was a fitting memento of the impressive event.
